FESSH Academy Advanced Course – 18-20 November 2021
FESSH Academy Advanced Course will be held ONLINE between 18-20 Nov 2021 focusing on arthritis in the wrist and hand. The 4 x 90 minute webinar is aimed at established surgeons and will include tips and tricks from an internationally recognised experts in the field. FESSH Academy Foundation Course 2021 was held in Budapest, Hungary between 20-23 October 2021 for 103 participants from 28 countries. The 4 day basic hand surgery course was delivered by 12 international faculty with huge success.FESSH Academy Foundation Course 2022
The next year's event is planned to be held again in Budapest, Hungary as early as 23-26 February 2022. FESSH will subsidise the registration fee for the FESSH member hand societies' nominees. The appointment of orthopaedic surgeon K. E. Kallio (1899-1986) as the Professor of Surgery at Helsinki University Hospital in 1950 can be considered as the starting point of modern hand surgery in Finland. The first Hand Department opened in 1963 in Helsinki. Official education and training in hand surgery started in 1973. Hand surgery is an independent specialty in Finland, comparable to other specialties such as plastic surgery or orthopaedics. The duration of the specialization is at least 5 years.
