MESSAGE OF THE OUTGOING SECRETARY GENERAL
Dear FESSH Members,
The last three years as Secretary General were for me an enriching experience with many insights. I had the chance to organize the work of a great group of colleagues, professionals and friends. Together, we were able to develop old projects, to start new ones
and to lay the basis for future ones. Allow me to say that we can be proud of the achievements in many different fields: one of the best European Board Examinations, many different grants available for base and clinical research, a better Trauma Centres database,
improved relationships with sub-specialty groups and other specialties, more training and educational events and many more activities from all the committees. The intense work of the Managing Office is more important than ever for the smooth functioning of
all our working groups.
The contact with you, the members, was very rewarding and stimulating, and I'm very thankful for your support and enthusiasm. My biggest regret is that it was not possible to reach all of you and to have even more exchanges about your needs and expectations.
The last sanitary emergency obliged us to cancel the Basel congress and with it the opportunity to address and thank you all personally. I'm sure that we will have the chance in the near future to make up for this. FESSH has a bright future with you all.

NORTH MACEDONIA – FESSH WELCOMES ITS NEWEST MEMBER!
The Society for Surgery of the Hand of Republic of North Macedonia (MSSH) is a recently established national society for surgery of the hand and upper extremity of the Republic of North Macedonia in 2019. It is a multi-specialty association that unites plastic
surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, trauma surgeons and general surgeons with a special interest in hand and upper extremity pathologies. In our country hand surgery is not a separate speciality (residency or fellowship). The Society became a full member of FESSH
on 2 September 2020.
REPORT ON THE EBHS EXAM 2020
Due to the pandemic the viva rounds of the EBHS Diploma Examination 2020 have been organised online via Zoom on 14-15 November. 28 examiners and 65 candidates participated in the oral sessions where a new online evaluation system has been launched to help the
work of the examiners which proved to be efficient. 58 candidates have successfully passed the exam this year.
The best candidate is Geert Buijze from France. Thanks to the examiners for their work and congratulations to the participants!

YEHS is waiting for young hand surgeons to join and represent their interests within the hand surgery community.

FESSH OFFERS A PATRONIZED SURVEY FOR YOUR ATTENTION
The department of Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Centre of BG-Klinik Tübingen (Germany) created an international survey about semi-occlusive dressing therapy in case of fingertip injuries. The survey intends to highlight similarities a./o. differences
especially in the indication and experiences of semi-occlusive dressing therapy. The survey will only take about 10 minutes and the participants will remain completely anonymous. Please add your opinion.

MEET THE FESSH MEMBER SOCIETIES – History of Hand Surgery in Portugal
The Portuguese Society for Hand Surgery (SPOCMA) was officially be constituted on 12 March 1968, as a Section of the Medical Sciences Society of Lisbon (Sociedade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa).
In 2003, SPOCMA had the pleasure to organize the IX FESSH Congress in Lisbon is a memorable gathering for everyone.
For the past 15 years, we have a special connection with our "brother" Spanish Society (SECMA) with which we have a joint Iberian Meeting every 3 years. In 2018 we celebrated our 50th anniversary with a special meeting held in Academia de Ciências de Lisboa
with the participation of the Brazilian, Spanish and French hand surgery societies.
