Welcome message of Daniel Herren, new FESSH Secretary General
It is with the greatest of respect, but also with huge enthusiasm, that I took on the role of FESSH Secretary General in September 2020. It is a great privilege to lead a Federation which stands on a firm basis and has been developed under past secretary generals
and council members, dedicated to serve the hand surgical community in Europe and beyond. With the impressive dynamic in Council, many projects have been realised and are set to be developed further.
FESSH, as an organisation understands itself as an umbrella under which our members, the national societies may thrive and prosper. For FESSH, it is important to stay in touch with you and to profit from your input and to understand your needs. Together we
can achieve many goals for the future development of Hand Surgery in Europe, following the proverb, 'if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far, go together'.

FESSH Academy 2021 news
FESSH Academy has been postponed hoping that travel restrictions will be lifted by the new date. This 4 day basic course in Hand Surgery will be held between 21-24 April 2021.
In case you are interested to attend with special registration fee supported by FESSH, please contact your national FESSH delegate via your national society.

Meet the FESSH member societies – History of Hand Surgery in Bulgaria
The history of hand surgery in Bulgaria started in the 1940s. Professor Ivan Matev established the Bulgarian Society for Surgery of the Hand that joined the IFSSH in 1986 and FESSH in 2002.
